Abstract

A general thermal decomposition strategy for the synthesis of highly chemically ordered L10 alloy nanoparticles is presented. L10 FePt nanoparticles with an average diameter of 5 nm were obtained directly from the atomically layered precursor FePtCl6_6H2O. The method is easy and low cost, and the FePt nanoparticles, obtained at 400C have a high magnetic anisotropy.
