The propagation of spatially modulated light in a highly diffusive media containing inclusions is discussed, showing amplitude and phase modulation. The improvement of resolution of imaging techniques based on the spatial modulation of light is demonstrated. We propose phase detection of the spatially modulated light as a method for the localization of inclusions in the medium.

Abstract
