EIS investigations carried out on either redox or conducting polymer layers are reviewed. The models proposed for redox polymers in contact with solutions with or without a redox couple and their experimental verifications are discussed. The literature relative to conducting polymers such as polyacetylene, polypyrrole and polyaniline is analysed and some relevant questions concerning data interpretation are pointed out.
