Abstract
The Neogene succession of the Taza-Guercif basin is redefined. In this succession the Tortonian-Messinian boundary has been redefined by the study of new stratigraphic sections and by means of planktonic foraminifers. Using lithostratigraphic criteria, seven formations, that display two marine sedimentary cycles, have been identified. The first cycle is Tortonian in age, the second one late Tortonian-Messinian.
