Extreme wave-body interactions may cause shipping and flowing of water on the main deck of ships (water on deck). In this paper, the role taken by some of the main geometric and kinematic parameters involved in the water on deck is carried out by using an approximate hydrodynamic model. In particular, the unsteady interaction between free surface and ship is analyzed by solving the inviscid two--dimensional fully nonlinear problem numerically. Both water on deck resembling dam breaking as well as due to plunging waves are investigated.

Abstract
Extreme wave-body interactions may cause shipping and flowing of water on the main deck of ships (water on deck). In this paper, the role taken by some of the main geometric and kinematic parameters involved in the water on deck is carried out by using an approximate hydrodynamic model. In particular, the unsteady interaction between free surface and ship is analyzed by solving the inviscid two--dimensional fully nonlinear problem numerically. Both water on deck resembling dam breaking as well as due to plunging waves are investigated.File in questo prodotto:
