Fe,films grown on Cu~u(001s)in gle crystal at room temperature, have been studied from a structural point of view by means of Primary-beam Difraction Modulated Electron Emission (PDMEE), in the 0-37 monolayers (ML) thickness range. A face centered cubic (fcc) structure has been found for fjlms thinner than 4 ML. In a region of thickness extending up to 23 ML, two phases, with fcc and body centered tetragonal (bct) structure, are present. For thicker ,films only a bct phase is detected. At 37 ML the surface layers of the film show an unstrained bcc(001) structure with the [001] crystal direction parallel to the [101] direction of the substrate.
