This paper describes our studies on the catalytic partial oxidation of methane to produce hydrogen for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). The catalytic activity of Ceria supported platinum catalysts, prepared by a novel solution-combustion-method, has been investigated as a functin of the reaction-bed temprature, O2/CH4 molar ratio and gas hourly space velocity. The 2at% Pt/CeO2 sample exhibit good catalytic activity and shows no deposits of carbon even after prolonged use (100h) for various start-up and shut-down cycles.

Abstract
This paper describes our studies on the catalytic partial oxidation of methane to produce hydrogen for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). The catalytic activity of Ceria supported platinum catalysts, prepared by a novel solution-combustion-method, has been investigated as a functin of the reaction-bed temprature, O2/CH4 molar ratio and gas hourly space velocity. The 2at% Pt/CeO2 sample exhibit good catalytic activity and shows no deposits of carbon even after prolonged use (100h) for various start-up and shut-down cycles.File in questo prodotto:
