Qui dice Tullio, qui parla lo sponitore. Il lessico retorico nei volgarizzamenti ciceroniani

This work examines the rethorical terminology that derives from Cicero, that is to say the one that is found in the medieval treatises of the XIII and XIV centuries, directly based on De inventione and - because of the traditional attribution - on the Rhetorica ad Herennium. From a general point of view, we register a tendency of freeing from Latin, put into effect through fully vulgar reformulations of the verbs, while the loans for nouns are more common. Also in the case of nouns, however, we observe sometimes interesting attempts of reformulation and resorting to serial linguistic elements, like the suffix -mento, significant clue of linguistic technicization.

Questo lavoro prende in esame la terminologia retorica di derivazione ciceroniana, vale a dire quella attestata nei trattati medievali del XIII e XIV secolo fondati direttamente sul De inventione e - in virtù dell'attribuzione tradizionale - sulla Rhetorica ad Herennium. Da un punto di vista generale, si registra la tendenza all'affrancamento dal latino, attuato mediante riformulazioni pienamente volgari, per i verbi, mentre è usuale il ricorso al prestito per i sostantivi. Anche nel caso dei nomi, tuttavia, si osservano talvolta interessanti tentativi di riformulazione e il ricorrere di elementi linguistici seriali, come il suffisso -mento, significativo indizio di tecnicizzazione linguistica.
