The vibration exposure led occupational diseases affected around 5 percent of workers from all sectors in Europe. The main effect of exposure is the Vibration White Finger (VWF), a disorder of blood supply to fingers and hand. It is caused by regular use of vibrating hand-held tools and the sufferers may have a permanent loss of sensation in their fingers. To face this problem, a specific European directive - the CE 2002/44, have been introduced that gives guidelines to employers for determining the vibration exposure and handling them.
