The present paper tries to contribute to our understanding of social entrepreneurship by identifying its central role in enabling dynamic capabilities, and describing how it can be used to achieve dynamic capabilities (based on case study research). Conceptually, the paper draws on approaches in evolutionary competence-based theories to explore the function and effects of organizational capabilities in biotechnological firm value creation, and uses knowledge management interpretations to include the role of individual and organizational relational abilities to facilitate knowledge creation and diffusion.
