In 2012, at ESSCH in Glasgow, I presented a paper about the perception of migrant people in the pages of some national Italian newspapers. Here I'll examine the perception on migration matters in the newspapers on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. As in the previous research, I've been conducting a linguistic research on frequencies and co-texts in a portion of articles extracted from Northern-African newspapers, weekly mag-azines and political and cultural reviews published in the second semester 2009. The arising questions are: how are linguistically contextualized migration matters within the African press? What is the lexicon describing the phenomenon, and what is the image of Europe delivered?

Abstract
In 2012, at ESSCH in Glasgow, I presented a paper about the perception of migrant people in the pages of some national Italian newspapers. Here I'll examine the perception on migration matters in the newspapers on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. As in the previous research, I've been conducting a linguistic research on frequencies and co-texts in a portion of articles extracted from Northern-African newspapers, weekly mag-azines and political and cultural reviews published in the second semester 2009. The arising questions are: how are linguistically contextualized migration matters within the African press? What is the lexicon describing the phenomenon, and what is the image of Europe delivered?I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
