This paper deals with the verbal forms for obligations in the Pylos linear B land-registers (te-re-ja, wo-ze, te-ra-pi-ke, po-ne-to). After discussing the different possible interpretations of these verbs, it is suggested that all of them referred to agricultural obligations and that, given their frequent association with the ka-ma plots, these activities were generally intended to transform the unused land into productive land or to improve the conditions of production of certain plots, in a way that may recall the emphyteutic leases of Classical Greece.

Abstract
This paper deals with the verbal forms for obligations in the Pylos linear B land-registers (te-re-ja, wo-ze, te-ra-pi-ke, po-ne-to). After discussing the different possible interpretations of these verbs, it is suggested that all of them referred to agricultural obligations and that, given their frequent association with the ka-ma plots, these activities were generally intended to transform the unused land into productive land or to improve the conditions of production of certain plots, in a way that may recall the emphyteutic leases of Classical Greece.File in questo prodotto:
