After an extensive introduction of historical character that gives an account of the most recent historiographical readings, the study focuses on the economic and political role played from the large Campidano plain in a very delicate phase in the history of medieval Sardinia, the post Judicial. The focus turned to the role of the fertile Campidano in the political balance of the checkered history of the judged and the republics of Pisa and Genoa in the island that boasted strong interests.

Dopo una ampia introduzione di carattere storico che dà conto delle più recenti letture storiografiche, lo studio si concentra sul ruolo economico e politico svolto dall'ampia pianura del Campidano in una fase molto delicata della storia della Sardegna medievale, quella post giudicale. Il focus acceso sul ruolo dei fertili terreni del Campidano negli equilibri politici delle complesse vicende storiche dei giudicati e delle repubbliche di Pisa e di Genova che nell'isola vantavano forti interessi.
