Abstract

Recent studies have shown how surfactants, well beyond their huge impact in our everyday life, have become the key tool to manipulate surface properties in order to fulfill new research and industrial requirements ranging from fluids to disperse systems management, bio and nanotechnologies naming but a few. In this work, the author has focused on self-assembly of surfactants at solid surfaces discussing both theoretical and simulation aspects, and conventional and more advanced experimental techniques to assess morphological, chemical, or physicochemical features of these phenomena from the nano to the macroscale. A wide range of examples has been shown to evaluate their application potential.
