In this paper several PWM techniques have been studied and a unified approach allowing their implementation by using a general expression of the duty cycle is proposed. These techniques are experimentally investigated to evaluate their impact on power losses and efficiency in a VSI for AC variable speed drives. In particular, both continuous and discontinuous PWM methods have been addressed and experimentally tested. Abstract

Moreover a power losses dynamic model for the VSI is developed and validated on the basis of experimental tests.
