In March 2011 a new regulation guaranteed equal opportunity in publicly-and government-funded institutions in Italy. We report gender data for April 2011 from universities and national research organizations. The numbers of women in research positions in every area of physics has not improved significantly in the last few years. In 2011 the reported institutions have ceiling factors of around 2, except for Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, for which the factor is 5.5. © 2013 American Institute of Physic.
