The first results presented are obtained from a High-Resolution (HR) multibeam survey carried out on the Po Delta. The bathymetry has been acquired in the framework of the Italian Ritmare flagship Project, focused on the hydrodynamics, sedimentology, stratigraphy and pollution of the Po River Delta. The modern Po Delta, a multiple-lobe, supply-dominated system, is the result of increased sediment flux derived from climatic change and human impact both on the catchment area and on the river delta. In July 2013 two small boats were employed to investigate the seafloor in shallow and very shallow water, from the river mouth to the prodelta slope (from 1.5 to 25 m water depth). A HR bathymetry was collected by means of the Reson and Kongsberg (7125 and 2040DC 400 kHz) multibeam equipments. The morphology of the riverbed is dominated by dune fields and other features due to erosive-depositional processes, including instability phenomena on the river banks. Beyond the delta mouth, depositional lobes are observed, with an overall southward asymmetry of the submerged delta due to the prevalent currents.

Abstract
Beyond the delta mouth, depositional lobes are observed, with an overall southward asymmetry of the submerged delta due to the prevalent currents.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
