The code SAFE_AIR, an evolution of the Avacta II code, was developed to model wind fields and pollutant transport and diffusion in three dimensions. The code is able to deal with both nonstationary and nonhomogeneous situations. The model evaluation was performed, both on flat and on complex terrain, using field data (from KNRC Katrex experiments) and laboratory data (from EPA Rushil experiments). The results of both evaluations are very encouraging.

Abstract

The code SAFE_AIR, an evolution of the Avacta II code, was developed to model wind fields and pollutant transport and diffusion in three dimensions. The code is able to deal with both nonstationary and nonhomogeneous situations. The model evaluation was performed, both on flat and on complex terrain, using field data (from KNRC Katrex experiments) and laboratory data (from EPA Rushil experiments). The results of both evaluations are very encouraging.
