Este artículo está dedicado al análisis de los acontecimientos políticos y dinásticos del Giudicato de Arborea en las dos últimas décadas del siglo XIV y, en particular, a las figuras de Brancaleone Doria, conde de Monteleone, y Mariano V juez de Arborea (1392 / 1393-1407), examinadas en el vasto l panorama político del Mediterráneo occidental. El examen de las fuentes consultadas corrobora algunas perplejidades sobre el vínculo familiar entre los dos personajes, mencionadas ya en publicaciones anteriores.
