This study aims to analyze the spreading of public fountains in Rome, known as "nasoni" (sing. nasone). These fountains provide people with free drinking water. They are shaped in the form of a nose, hence the name. The nasone became an integral part of the Roman landscape. It has a very important social task, mainly in past times when there wasn't any water supply available in houses. For this reason we chose the Municipio Roma V as a start for our analysis. The Municipio Roma V is a suburb area located in the eastern part of Rome. This study is part of the "Indagine sociale sui nasoni di Roma" project, started and led by the Associazione Geografica per l'Ambiente e il Territorio (AGAT). The main aim of the study is the development of a comprehensive map of these public fountains. This map and related information will be shared freely at no cost. The operative procedure we followed required three steps to be accomplished. The first step was an on-the-field survey to analyze each fountain's features and position. Each position was marked with GPS equipment. The second step was the creation of a database to hold supplementary and qualitative information. The third step was to generate a thematic cartography on ArcGIS Online.

Abstract
The third step was to generate a thematic cartography on ArcGIS Online.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
