It may be as simple as extracting words to analyze and spot specific writing patterns, or it may involve understanding tasks such as part of speech tagging and parsing human utterances. The kinds of NLP applications in the legal field range from automatic texts classification, finding and classifying named entities to automatic building up of domain ontologies.
