The present work deals with the conversion of olivemill wastewater (OMW) into a suitable low-cost feedstock for hydrogen photo-production. A pretreatment process of OMW for the removal of polyphenols with different adsorbent matrices (Azolla, granular active carbon, resin, and zeolite) has been realised, then a photofermentative process performed by purple nonsulfur bacteria (PNSB) has been tested. To our knowledge, this is the first time that dephenolized OMW is used pure to produce successfully biocarburants through a photofermentative process.

Abstract
The present work deals with the conversion of olivemill wastewater (OMW) into a suitable low-cost feedstock for hydrogen photo-production. A pretreatment process of OMW for the removal of polyphenols with different adsorbent matrices (Azolla, granular active carbon, resin, and zeolite) has been realised, then a photofermentative process performed by purple nonsulfur bacteria (PNSB) has been tested. To our knowledge, this is the first time that dephenolized OMW is used pure to produce successfully biocarburants through a photofermentative process.File in questo prodotto:
