Nowadays, hyperspectral airborne remote sensing is a widely applied technique to collect information over relevant spatial scales at high spectral and spatial resolution. Due to its costs, often it is hard to have available multi-temporal images of the same area. The aim of this work is the analysis of multi-temporal changes occurred in zone exposed to anthropic activity at the feet of Mount Vesuvius in the South of Italy by remote sensing techniques. In the study area, most of lava pits are now closed. This zone suffered of two main activities: mining and following rubbish dumping; these activities have an environmental impact on the near areas due to intense traffic of trucks, mining and dumping activities, which release dust and biogas in the atmosphere and leachate into the ground.
