Abstract. Ecotypes found in old and young (2-6 years) vineyards belonging to 41 cultivars were subjected to immunological assay for the research of mai n grapevine viruses (GVA, GVB, GFLV, GFkV, GLRaV-1, GLRaV-2, GLRaV-3, and GLRaV-7). In old vineyards, about half of the plants was affected by GLRaV-1 and GVA, followed by GFkV (24.4%), GLRaV-3 (14.4%), and GFLV (11.1%), whereas in the young vineyards one plant out tour was infected by GFkV, GLRaV-3 and GLRaV-1, followed by GVA (13.9%). In Verdicchio, the main white berry cultivar of the Region, the highest incidence was reached by GVA and GFkV (28-29% of infected plants), while a lower incidence of GLRaV-3 (24%), GLRaV-1 (18%), and GFLV (13%) occurred. Overall, 74.5% of old vines, most of them subjected to clonal and sanitary selection and then without disease symptoms in the field, was affected by at least one virus and 58.8% of viral incidence was detected in the young vineyards. So, the sanitary status of grapevine in Marche region is rather worrying, even considering that certified material for most cultivars included in the analysis is available.
