Abstract

HRGC-MS has been used to identify and quantify volatile organic compounds (VOC) emitted during the combustion of biomass commonly burned in the Mediterranean area during summer. More than 200 components were identified and quantified in the emissions. Data obtained can be useful to model the impact that forest fires and some agricultural practices might have on tropospheric ozone formation and acid deposition.
