This paper proposes an efficiency analysis on an inverter-fed induction motor drive integrating switching losses minimization by D-PWM (Discontinuous PWM) and an ELMT (Electric Loss Minimization Technique) for the motor, either separately or contemporary. This approach allows to benchmark the contribution of both the chosen PWM and ELMT strategies on the total losses. The aim is the development of highly efficient drive systems, able to both rapidly adjusting the motor operation on the basis of the load variation and to minimize the overall losses, at the same time.

Abstract

This paper proposes an efficiency analysis on an inverter-fed induction motor drive integrating switching losses minimization by D-PWM (Discontinuous PWM) and an ELMT (Electric Loss Minimization Technique) for the motor, either separately or contemporary. This approach allows to benchmark the contribution of both the chosen PWM and ELMT strategies on the total losses. The aim is the development of highly efficient drive systems, able to both rapidly adjusting the motor operation on the basis of the load variation and to minimize the overall losses, at the same time.
