In this paper, the possibility of using electrical impedance spectrometry (EIS) method as monitoring system of earthen dike of small water reservoir is discussed. EIS method falls in the category of indirect electrical resistance monitoring methods. From the measurements are obtained the maps of impedance or of related electrical parameters. Through these maps, the information about anomalies in the investigated volume is given. Primarily, the conductivity anomaly corresponds to higher water content in the test site. A new device Z-meter, which works with EIS method, is used.

Abstract

In this paper, the possibility of using electrical impedance spectrometry (EIS) method as monitoring system of earthen dike of small water reservoir is discussed. EIS method falls in the category of indirect electrical resistance monitoring methods. From the measurements are obtained the maps of impedance or of related electrical parameters. Through these maps, the information about anomalies in the investigated volume is given. Primarily, the conductivity anomaly corresponds to higher water content in the test site. A new device Z-meter, which works with EIS method, is used.
