The ALEP methodology was utilised for the management of the Basilicata Region energy system. Its approach is based on a comprehensive description of the territory including social and economical characteristics, land use, and energy, materials and pollutants flow from anthropogenic activities. In this framework, the system analysts was supported by several tools, and a Regional Geographical Information System was set up to allow the users an effective management of data and models in the preliminary analysis and in the operative phase.
