This paper is focused on evaluating the effectiveness of organic and inorganic consolidant products applied onselectedtuffashlarsoftheServianWallinPiazzadeiCinquecento(Rome). These walls were built with squared blocks of tuff in the sixth century BC. In the last decades they were subjected to maintenance and restoration to limit degradation. These actions showed a marked effectiveness on the control of biodeteriogens while serious and widespread phenomena of loss of material (flaking and powdering) of the original volcanic stone are still present. Therefore, it was evident the need to carried out treatments using products with consolidant effect. In the present paper the performance of some consolidation treatment were assessed in situ after more than a year of their application. The selected treatments are two products based on ethyl silicate (Tegovakon V100 and Estel 1000), an acrylic microemulsion (Acril Me), a nano-lime (Calosil IP50) and a nano-silica (Syton X30), The effectiveness of the consolidation treatments was evaluated by measuring the following parameters: color change (colorimetrictest),resistancetopenetration(DRMS)andwaterabsorption(contactspongetest). The results show good performance for the two products Tegovakon V100 and Estel 1000 and satisfactory performance for Acril Me while Calosil IP50 and Syton X30 gave low improvement of the resistance to penetration, noreductionofwaterabsorptionandformationofverythinwhitelayer.
