Abstract

The recovering and fruition of documents about architectonic heritage by electronic frames, the development of digital technology methodologies for cultural heritage and the use of new technological and computer systems are more and more widespread nowadays. The potentialities of these technologies in projecting and then managing information in cultural heritage conservation are a lot and in particular the data digitalization has already considered an essential element for a course towards its enhancement. In particular, among the new technologies, GIS (Geographical Information System) are more and more common. They come out as instruments for the control of territory and are provided with such a flexibility that they can be used in different research areas. In fact we are attending the transfer of specific functions of the GIS to building heritage conservation, in particular historical and monumental buildings. The idea of using a GIS for scheduling systematically the industrial heritage of Basilicata (Figure 1) has been organized so that we can make rapid analysis that are useful to take information or to underline common characteristics or differences. This GIS, in this specific case, links dynamically objects and vector themes, that are contents of analysis, to a series of information about typological, structural, building, architectonic, location characteristics and historical data; and it contains those data and technical parameters that are necessary to realize a recovering plan of the whole archaeological industrial heritage of Basilicata.
