We report the discovery of a nearly-free electron-like state on the ?-Si3N4(0001)-8x8 grown on Si(111), as observed by angle-resolved photoemission and scanning tunnelling spectroscopy. Supported by density functional theory calculations we found that this parabolic state act as a resonance as superposes on the surface projected bulk bands of the Si(111). Measurements carried out by ARPES (Angle Resolved Photo Emission Spectroscopy), PES (Photoemission Spectroscopy), LEED (Low Energy Electron Diffraction), STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscopy) and STS (Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy) will be presented as well as DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations.
