The thermal behavior and molecular interactions of blends containing polyethylene (LLDPE or HDPE) functionalized with ethyldiazoacetate and polyvinylchloride were analyzed by means of FT-IR and DSC. The comparison between polyethylene functionalized with DEM and EDA shows that the occurrence of specific molecular interactions between the polymer components is affected by the structure of the introduced functional groups.

Abstract

The thermal behavior and molecular interactions of blends containing polyethylene (LLDPE or HDPE) functionalized with ethyldiazoacetate and polyvinylchloride were analyzed by means of FT-IR and DSC. The comparison between polyethylene functionalized with DEM and EDA shows that the occurrence of specific molecular interactions between the polymer components is affected by the structure of the introduced functional groups.
