A study has been made of the influence of the composition of PP-PE blends on the rates of ozone-oxygen oxidation, taking account of changes in supermolecular parameters and in the segmental mobility of the macromolecules. A major diffference was detected in the character of plots of oxidation rates versus composition for the isotropic and the oriented films. Ozone-oxidation resistance of the PP-PE blends is considerably enhanced by introducing a small amount of the more stable component as an additive. © 1983.

Abstract

A study has been made of the influence of the composition of PP-PE blends on the rates of ozone-oxygen oxidation, taking account of changes in supermolecular parameters and in the segmental mobility of the macromolecules. A major diffference was detected in the character of plots of oxidation rates versus composition for the isotropic and the oriented films. Ozone-oxidation resistance of the PP-PE blends is considerably enhanced by introducing a small amount of the more stable component as an additive. © 1983.
