The present work is focused on the building of a new class of Phase Change Materials (PCMs) called Nano-PCMs. These materials are obtained from the merge between the oxide nanoparticles and the paraffin wax. The aim is to improve the thermal properties of the phase change materials such as thermal conductivity, specific heat and latent heat. These properties are experimentally measured and then a numerical comparison is made between the pure paraffin wax and the nano-PCM in a aluminum box. The results are shown in term of melting time, average temperature of the system and junction temperature.

Abstract

The present work is focused on the building of a new class of Phase Change Materials (PCMs) called Nano-PCMs. These materials are obtained from the merge between the oxide nanoparticles and the paraffin wax. The aim is to improve the thermal properties of the phase change materials such as thermal conductivity, specific heat and latent heat. These properties are experimentally measured and then a numerical comparison is made between the pure paraffin wax and the nano-PCM in a aluminum box. The results are shown in term of melting time, average temperature of the system and junction temperature.
