Remote lakes are useful early-warning indicators of climate change and change in the chemistry of atmospheric deposition in response to changing emissions. Long-term chemical data at remote lake sites in the Alps and Himalaya are analysed in relation to atmospheric deposition and climate. Lakes in the Alps are still under the effects of acidic deposition, while in the Himalaya meteorological factors are dominating in determining chemical changes.

Abstract
Remote lakes are useful early-warning indicators of climate change and change in the chemistry of atmospheric deposition in response to changing emissions. Long-term chemical data at remote lake sites in the Alps and Himalaya are analysed in relation to atmospheric deposition and climate. Lakes in the Alps are still under the effects of acidic deposition, while in the Himalaya meteorological factors are dominating in determining chemical changes.File in questo prodotto:
