This article presents the uncertainty analysis performed on the experimental data obtained with a standard ITTC model (usually named Halmatic) tested in the Italian Ship Model Basin (INSEAN) during a 15-year period. The results show that, using correctly the measuring instruments, the width of the 95% confidence interval of the measured towing force values, is less than 1% of the average, for nearly all the tested velocities. Although these results refer to the Halmatic case only, they are the most important reference for estimating the uncertainty of the Italian Ship model Basin towing test during a long period.

Abstract
This article presents the uncertainty analysis performed on the experimental data obtained with a standard ITTC model (usually named Halmatic) tested in the Italian Ship Model Basin (INSEAN) during a 15-year period. The results show that, using correctly the measuring instruments, the width of the 95% confidence interval of the measured towing force values, is less than 1% of the average, for nearly all the tested velocities. Although these results refer to the Halmatic case only, they are the most important reference for estimating the uncertainty of the Italian Ship model Basin towing test during a long period.File in questo prodotto:
