Abstract

Various zeolites obtained by hydrothermal synthesis from Lipari pumice have been tested as soil conditioners in spinach-growing. The results of germinability and yield are compared with those of a traditional reference culture. Direct addition of zeolites to the soil results in increased germinability of spinach seed relative to controls. Zeolite addition in admixture with traditional fertilizers to the soil improves yield. In order to optimize the two effects a modification of spinach culture is suggested. © 1984.
