The attention of the present paper is focused on the investigation with infrared thermography of thermoplastic composites involving a polylactic acid (PLA) matrix reinforced with jute fibers. This is a quite new material whose characteristics are still not completely understood. In fact, till now the industrial interest was mainly devised towards classical composites based on either a thermoset, or a thermoplastic, matrix reinforced with carbon, or glass fibers. Less attention has been paid to renewable raw materials. Nowadays, the growing environmental awareness is driving attention towards the development of more ecological and friendly materials. To this end, understanding the material characteristics and performance is important in view of its proper applications use. In this paper infrared thermography is used to visualize thermoelastic effects developing in the composite material under cyclic bending and for non-destructive evaluation of specimens before and after bending.

Abstract
In this paper infrared thermography is used to visualize thermoelastic effects developing in the composite material under cyclic bending and for non-destructive evaluation of specimens before and after bending.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
