CARDIOSIM© is a software package to simulate the cardiovascular system. This software reproduces the most important circulatory phenomena, in terms of pressure and volume relationships. It includes the simulation of different mechanical heart assist devices and mechanical ventilatory support as well. CARDIOSIM© is based on the following principles: capability to reproduce volumetric phenomena of the circulation and artero-ventricular interaction; possibility to assemble the model in different ways, according to the specific circulatory condition to be reproduced; exhaustive data presentation and storing of simulation results; possibility to set "on line" the values of circulatory parameters. These principles led to the development of a lumped parameter model of the circulation completed by two variable elastance models to reproduce the Starling law of the heart for both ventricles. Modular organization of the software which allows to plan different experiments. CARDIOSIM© runs on personal computer (under Windows operating system). Among its calculations, it includes ventricular energetics. It is an easy to use software compatible with other software packages. This software simulator is useful to help physicians, students, medical doctors, anaesthesiologists and surgeons to analyze the most important cardio-circulatory phenomena in physiological and pathological conditions and during mechanical circulatory assistance and/or mechanical ventilation as well.

Abstract
This software simulator is useful to help physicians, students, medical doctors, anaesthesiologists and surgeons to analyze the most important cardio-circulatory phenomena in physiological and pathological conditions and during mechanical circulatory assistance and/or mechanical ventilation as well.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
