A new absorption heat pump, using a mixture of three elements (ammonia-water-potassium hydroxide), is presented in this paper. The principal aim of the proposed machine is to solve practical problems which represent the most critical points of a traditional heat pump using ammonia-water system, i.e. high pressure and rectification of ammonia. For this new system, the general working scheme, the thermodynamic design data, its performance as a heat pump machine and a comparison with the ammonia-water absorption heat pump are presented. Abstract
