The paper describes the status of implementation of a software platform based on Web services and Semantic Web technologies, aimed to assist hypermedia authoring. The services share a common underlying semantic layer describing media assets, media contents and relations among them, as well as phases and attributes of the authoring process. Two sample Web applications illustrate the usage of the platform: the Hyper Atlas one, which realizes the automatic generation of hypermedia presentations navigable according to a hierarchy of concepts, and the Semantic Image Gallery, an image annotation and retrieval tool.
