The paper reports on the geological, mineralogical and petrological study of the kaolin mineralization and the parent rocks. The stratigraphic sequence, from bottom to top, is characterized by a violet and grey-green volcanites (andesites and dacites), pyroclastites and tuffs alternating with fluvial and/or marshy sedimentary layers. The sequence is crossed by silica veins and is covered by a silica sinter. At the top of the sequence the Miocene limestones and conglomerates occur. The investigated area is tectonized and crossed by the Oligocene-Miocene rift. The Pliocene-Quaternary structure of the Campidano valley, is characterized by normal faults aligned to NW-SE direction displacing Miocene limestones, silica sinter and volcanites. Mineral, geological and petrological features suggest that kaolins formed by hydrothermal alteration which affected the study area. Pyrite and quartz contaminations do not allow an immediate exploitation

Abstract
Pyrite and quartz contaminations do not allow an immediate exploitationI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
