One challenge in the simulation of Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) is to find a compromise between accuracy and solver stability. The electrical simulation of the distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) is particularly burdensome for the simulation tools. We investigate and propose in this paper some solutions for obtaining an equivalent DBR which preserves electrical accuracy but is less computational demanding.
