In this work we set out to investigate the effect of the type of support (TiO2 vs. Al2O3) on the Hg0 removal performance of MnOx-based adsorbents under oxidizing conditions. The adsorbents were fully characterized by means of ICP-MS, XRD, BET, H2-TPR, NH3-TPD, and Hg-TPD. Moreover the effect of the simultaneous presence of other species in the flue gas such as NO and NH3was also studied in view of the possible development of a single-step process integrating low temperature SCR and mercury capture.

Abstract

In this work we set out to investigate the effect of the type of support (TiO2 vs. Al2O3) on the Hg0 removal performance of MnOx-based adsorbents under oxidizing conditions. The adsorbents were fully characterized by means of ICP-MS, XRD, BET, H2-TPR, NH3-TPD, and Hg-TPD. Moreover the effect of the simultaneous presence of other species in the flue gas such as NO and NH3was also studied in view of the possible development of a single-step process integrating low temperature SCR and mercury capture.
