PLAisabiobased-materialparticularlyattractiveduetoitsopticalandthermalproperties,anditisconsideredachallengingcandidateforthereplacementofoil-basedpolymers.However,thelargescaleapplicationofPLAislimitedduetoitspoormechanicalproperties,poorthermalresistance,lowgasandvaporbarrier1.Inthiscontext,nanocompositematerialsofferanewandpromisingprospectivesincetheyexhibitsignificantchangesofphysicalpropertieseveninthepresenceofsmallamounts(i.e.lessthan3%)ofnanosizedfillers.Thedispersionofnanofillersinapolymermatrixisgenerallyachievedbytuningtheinterfacialpropertiesthroughthechemicalfillermodificationandtheuseofsuitablecouplingagents. Inthisworkpoly(lacticacid)(PLA)nanocompositeswerepreparedviameltblendingwithdifferentnanofillerspreviouslydispersedinlowmolecularweightpolyesterswhichweregenerallyusedasplasticizers.Theultimateaimwastoimprovebothmechanicalfeaturesanddispersion/distributionofthefiller.
