In recent years the significant technological development is changing many aspects of the daily life, in a number of basic aspects such as health-care. In the past each person received appropriate treatments by specialist medical staff and examinations from laboratory tests. On the contrary nowadays the patient is assuming an active role and is much closer to both examination and therapy phases. In this communication we will review this new approach, with regards to new technologies like Point-of-Care Diagnostics for low-cost and user friendly health monitoring and Nanomedicine for early and minimally invasive treatment of diseases like cancer
