Abstract

Amiloride derivatives represent a class of new promising chemotherapeutic agents. A representative member belonging to this family is the sodium-hydrogen antiporter inhibitor HMA (5-(N,N-hexamethylene amiloride), which modulates pH inducing cellular intracytosolic acidification. We characterized the response to HMA on human cell lines, observing that HMA is able to induce alterations of cell metabolism.
