Abstract

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a standard technique used to characterize the electrical properties of materials especially considering ionic conductivity. Application of EIS in sensor characterization gives important information on the nature of the electrical conductivity in correlation to the environmental changes. The presence of water affects the electrical conductivity of mesoporous silica (MPS) films. High porosity and surface modification are key factors to achieve high proton conductivity in MPS materials.
