The intelligent rehabilitation of historic social housing can contribute to economic development, environmental stewardship, quality of life and social equality, so it is important to invest money and efforts in the refurbishment and retrofitting of historical buildings to make them more energy efficient, and not limit energy efficient methods to new constructions. The methodological study presented in this paper was aimed at the development of an integrated system for the evaluation of energy use and consequent energy retrofit interventions in a historic social housing district. A Geographic Information System was used as support tool for understanding the transformation process which led to the current state of the social housing case study and to present alternatives and solutions for their regeneration.

Abstract
The intelligent rehabilitation of historic social housing can contribute to economic development, environmental stewardship, quality of life and social equality, so it is important to invest money and efforts in the refurbishment and retrofitting of historical buildings to make them more energy efficient, and not limit energy efficient methods to new constructions. The methodological study presented in this paper was aimed at the development of an integrated system for the evaluation of energy use and consequent energy retrofit interventions in a historic social housing district. A Geographic Information System was used as support tool for understanding the transformation process which led to the current state of the social housing case study and to present alternatives and solutions for their regeneration.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
