The impact of an increasing and controlled fishing effort applied by a professional fisherman at an Adriatic artificial reef was evaluated over three years using the ratio between experimental catches obtained at the reef and at an unprotected, open-sea control site. The ratio of mean species richness per catch as well as that of the fishing yields of the most representative groups of the fish assemblage inhabiting the artificial reef did not show any significant decrease due to the increased fishing effort.

Abstract
The impact of an increasing and controlled fishing effort applied by a professional fisherman at an Adriatic artificial reef was evaluated over three years using the ratio between experimental catches obtained at the reef and at an unprotected, open-sea control site. The ratio of mean species richness per catch as well as that of the fishing yields of the most representative groups of the fish assemblage inhabiting the artificial reef did not show any significant decrease due to the increased fishing effort.File in questo prodotto:
